Hello again and thanks for joining us.  This was very much a working holiday, but we managed to fit in some fun events as well.  Alyssa’s friend Anna (I guess it is time to just refer to her as our friend, Anna!) headed north with her bestie-Baxter, the gentle giant.  She brought us an amazing gift, and we can’t wait to hang them!

She even saved the cutouts and so we are thinking of making them into a wind chime.  Kathleen hates windchimes and so we will make sure she will not be able to hear them when she is visiting!

Sedge and Nora enjoyed an almost 7 mile walk on the 4th with their friends Sprout and Baxter.  The dogs all agreed that their humans needed lots of cardio prior to the festivities at Eagle Lake that evening.

On Saturday, our friends invited us (including Nora and Sedge) to their house on the lake (St Froid) to share in a barbeque with their family.  We used it as an excuse to make homemade ice cream-which everyone seemed to enjoy.  There were 7 dogs all hanging out and playing.  For the kids, there was a slide for life, kayaks, floating “beds”, tubing, swimming, and the weather was perfect.

The second coat is on the side deck.  (pic) It definitely looks better (pic).  We want to do a composite deck eventually but for right now this will work.  This area gets hit the hardest-full sun and no cover from the rain or snow but except Sedge and I no one really uses it.  Next up is the deck and stairs on our side entrance.  I did get it power washed on Sunday (saved the fun job for last) but now will have to wait for the next sunny day to begin painting.  I am doing the decks first and then will come back and get the railings.

We finally pulled out the paint sprayer (my birthday present last year) to do the donkey shed.  I only had one gallon of paint, but we were able to get 2 sides completed.  Paul worked on getting some of the downed trees cleared and the inevitable mowing.

Nothing to report on the sewing side. Los of rain predicted for the following week and so will try to catch up.  On the food side-our “pig” is safely ensconced in our freezer.

To end just a pic of few wild flowers I picked on this morning dog walk.  We really are lucky to live in such a beautiful area with all of our critters surrounded by lots of great people.

I cannot wait to tell everyone next week what KT got me for my birthday! See you all then.
