To say I was dreading turning 60 is an understatement. I asked Paul to just have the evening be us and he out did himself-decorations, gift galore, and a 4-layer yellow cake covered in vanilla butter cream icing made by our friend, Alyssa. It totally looked professional. I ate 7 pieces. It was delicious!

John stopped by with a beautiful handmade spoon made from purple heart wood from him and Judy. Wooden spoons and spatulas are his latest creations.

The next evening, we were treated to a lovely dinner out with our friends, Shawn and Alyssa and I now have a pair of hummingbird socks-Darn Tough. They are definitely my go to brand now-made in Vermont and tons of cool designs.
Of course, KT managed to upstage everyone… We are beyond excited. Plus, she had this great card made for me…very fun checking out photos from so many different trips and so many different hair colors!

In the Kitchen:
Harvest is rolling in slowly, but I don’t want to get behind. This week, I froze rhubarb, kale, swiss chard, parsley, cilantro as well as basil in oil. I used up all of last year’s basil in my pizza sauce. I didn’t have enough garlic to start on pesto yet, but the basil needs to be trimmed to keep the plants producing. I dehydrated garlic scrapes and more kale. The radishes were quick pickled with garlic and hot peppers. I think zucchini will be ready this week and then it is a constant battle to keep up. I have peppers

Projects:
I finished painting the other side deck. The wedding quilt…I got a huge wrinkle on the backing and spent HOURS picking out the quilting which of course was triple stitched. The wrinkle is now gone, and I am putting on the binding! Hopefully it will go in the mail this week.
Last but definitely not least, we had some sad news this week. Our new but dear friend, Baxter, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. He was a great guy, kind to everyone -dogs, cats, people, as well as up for any adventure, the epitome of a gentle giant. RIP Baxter and please tell Shelby, Buford, Ralfie, Diamond, Diego, Boomer, Frosty that we have not forgotten them and they live on in our hearts.
