In May, we took a vacation to see our daughter, son-in-law and new granddog, Mowgli. The trip was amazing. Kathleen organized bike routes and restaurants in a different direction outside the city each day. We visited a fortress museum in Naarden, a cheese factory as well as a cheese farm, saw tons of bird species-even black swans, beautiful homes and farms, lots of sheep, took ferries, watched boats go thru locks as we ate the best french fries ever, and lots of walks with Mowgli and time with Michael in the evening.
The trip was very relaxing and full of great conversation and food, lots of sunshine and exercise. Everything we love. Getting there was not the easiest though.
The trip consisted of a 2.5-hour drive to Bangor, a 4.5-hour bus ride to Boston Logan, a 4+ hour wait at the airport (luckily, we get to use the Delta lounge), the direct flight to Amsterdam and then about a 20-minute taxi to KT’s. Prior to leaving, there is arranging the pet sitter-we have a very responsible neighbor teen that takes care of the donkeys, chickens and the cats. The dogs go to a wonderful kennel-Kenzie’s Paradise for Paws. Going to see the “kids” is totally worth it but otherwise I find the entire process not really worth the anxiety!
